Dr. Kohatsu received his medical degree from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He completed his Family Medicine residency training at Case Western Reserve University Medical School in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to that, he received a Master in Public Health from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Public Health. He was a family physician for the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 20 years. Most recently, he spent three years as an urgent care physician for Memorial Herman Medical Group in Houston, Texas.
As a family physician, his focus has always been to provide compassionate and patient-centered care and to foster a strong patient-physician partnership. He is fluent in Spanish.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his wife to the Peruvian Andes in South America to hike the beautiful mountains and provide medical care to the indigenous population there.
