Rodolfo A Estrada, MD
Associate Professor/Clinical
Dr. Rodolfo A. Estrada, MD FCCP is an Assistant Professor of Medicine, specialized in Pulmonary and Critical Care. He is the Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program, as well as the Medicine Thoracic Outpatient Services from the University Health System, a UT Health San Antonio affiliated
institution. Dr. Estrada also serves as the Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at UT Health San Antonio, where he leads the Clinician Educator Track. He was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of CHEST Physicians in 2022. Finally, he is part of the UTSA College of Business Executive Development Program (EDP) for Emerging Health Leaders 2022-2023 cohort. Dr. Estrada is board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Diseases, and Critical Care Medicine.
He completed his undergraduate studies at the Austrian Institute of Guatemala in 2003 and received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 2010 from the Universidad de San Carlos, in his native country Guatemala. In 2016, he completed his internal medicine internship and residency at the Albert Einstein
College of Medicine / Jacobi in the Bronx, NY; followed by a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at UT Health San Antonio TX, completed in 2019. He is an active member of the American Thoracic Society (ATS), American College of Chest Physicians (CHEST), and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).
His areas of interest include pulmonary hypertension, systems and teamwork optimization, medical innovation, health equality, and medical education.

Research & Grants
My research interest have span between appropriate resource utilization. Initial work done on antibiotic stewardship model implementation and analysis of outcomes, and more recently on health disparities in pulmonary hypertension, particularly on the Hispanic population of South Texas.
