Family Medicine Residency Program
I am not a Texan but got here as fast as I could. I went to Texas A&M undergraduate for a biomedical science degree and for medical school. From the beginning of my training, I had a strong interest in Family Medicine and pursued residency in the specialty in Corpus Christi. I have been board certified with the American Board of Family Medicine since 2006. I spent an extra year of fellowship specifically delivering maternity care and women’s health while continuing to teach the full spectrum of family medicine as junior faculty. After serving as the associate program director in Corpus Christi, I moved my family to San Antonio and have been with UT Health San Antonio since 2012. I currently serve as the associate program director for the Family and Community Medicine Residency. I continue to practice all aspects of family medicine to include women’s health, maternity and pediatric care. I spend time teaching medical students clinical skills in workshops and longitudinally in the clinic. I have completed the clinical safety and effectiveness course and I am very interested in improving care across the system. I continue to look for innovative and improved ways to teach the newest physicians all the skills required to make a difference in patients’ health. I believe great physician patient relationships lead to improved care and outcomes.
