Ariel Vinas, MD, FACC

Section Chief Cardiology – South Texas Veterans Health Care System
Dr. Ariel Vinas earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) medical school. He is fluent in both English and Spanish and was the main instructor of the advanced medical Spanish class for students of all disciplines while in medical school. He subsequently completed internal medicine training at Parkland/UT Southwestern in Dallas and later returned to San Antonio for his general cardiology fellowship at UTHSCSA where he also served as the chief fellow. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac CT, and General Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and an ACC internal medicine cardiology program mentor to several trainees. He has been the recipient of multiple "faculty of the year" awards as recognized by the cardiology fellows. He is a staff cardiologist at UT Health and the Section Chief of Cardiology at the South Texas VA Hospital. He has a passion for preventive cardiology, advanced imaging, and medical education.
