State
Funding Agency Center for Substance Abuse Prevention at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administrati Title First Responders - Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act Cooperative Agreement (FR?CARA) Status Active Period 9/2017 - Present Role Co-Investigator Grant Detail This project enables the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to implement comprehensive strategies to decrease opioid overdose mortality in San Antonio, Texas, and the surrounding communities of Bexar County by: 1) training first responders on comprehensive overdose prevention and care coordination; 2) providing opioid overdose reversal materials to first responders; and 3) connecting overdose survivors in emergency departments to local treatment and recovery support services.
Funding Agency American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) Section Grant Task Force Title ACEP Toxicology Section Toxicology Simulation Case Library Status Active Period 6/2015 - Present Role Principal Investigator Grant Detail To create and provide a library of toxicology simulation cases that are peer reviewed by medical toxicologists, standardized in format, consistent with current treatment recommendations, diverse in topics, and freely available to all ACEP members and nonmembers alike to use as teaching tools for medical students and emergency medicine residents. This is a joint endeavor of medical toxicologists from ACEP, the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, and the American College of Medical Toxicology. I created the project, obtained the grant, and am directing the labors.
