Faculty Specialist and Director
Information Services
Application and System Development - Withover 35 years of IT experience and 25 years of academic software and system development experience, I have designed, built, implemented, and managed programs from small applications through large-scale international multi-language systems and operations. I developed and employed a method to focus on process and need rather than feature and function, and I have been successful in using this method to provide systems supporting data collection and data management, animal tracking, inventory control, clinical trial management, productivity management and tracking, content, scheduling, and others throughout my academic tenure.
Business Development - Our business development activities focus on the development of a service/cost center to build a sustainable program with the capacity to support research and operations at the lowest marginal cost. We have been able to generate enough revenue that with grant and contract coverage has been able to sustain operations while providing a necessary and valued service to the research community. We have marketed and deployed systems throughout the local area as well as several out of state facilities.
Program Development - Through my career, I have built research support programs from scratch. I have been able to find, assemble, train, and manage cross-functional multi-disciplinary teams to understand and manage the whole research picture and environment, rather than the traditional technical slice that just seems to fall short or fail at other organizations. I continue to create programs where we are able to understand the investigators operations, scientific domains, roadblocks, and hurdles to provide the services needed for a successful research project or endeavor. The expertise in this area comes from finding the balance of excess operational capacity to expand and accomplish this work without burdening the existing department resources already in play to support our existing university programs.
