South Texas Veterans Health Care System, Audie L. Murphy Veterans Administration Hospital, in partnership with the Office for Faculty Excellence, School of Nursing UT-Health SA. I serve our nation’s veteran population with my primary professional focus on teaching graduate and undergraduate nursing students. In the graduate program, I teach in the Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP) program as well as chair and mentor DNP students as they develop their DNP projects. Also, I am the Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) Track Coordinator for the School of Nursing. I teach didactic content in both the Traditional and Accelerated Tracks in the undergraduate program. Specifically, I am the Lead Teacher for NURS 4319 Leadership and Management: Theoretical Foundations in the Traditional Track. I am a teaching team member for NURS 4315 Adult II: Theoretical Foundations. I am also the Lead Teacher for the teaching team for NURS 4329 Leadership and Management: Theoretical Foundations in the Accelerate Track. My second professional focus is to continue my scholarship to develop and disseminate my research in patient safety that encourages and empowers nurses to identify and report near-misses. My clinical specialty is acute care, specifically post-anesthesia care nursing.
