Joshua T. Hanson, MD, MPH
Associate Dean of Student Affairs
Professor/Clinical
Dr. Joshua Hanson is a published, board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio as an Assistant Professor/Clinical in 2011, providing services at the South Texas Veterans' Healthcare System, before rising to the rank of Associate Professor/Clinical, Associate Dean of Student Affairs in 2017, and Professor/Clinical in 2024. Dr. Hanson earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Texas in 2001 before going on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from Washington University in 2007. He then completed his Internal Medicine residency at the at the University of California San Francisco in 2010. Dr. Hanson also holds a Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of California. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Hanson has received several honors including multiple "Top Reviewer" awards from the Journal of Hospital Medicine (2016-2018), "Feedback Star" (2016), "Teacher of the Year for Inpatient Faculty" (2016), "Outstanding Faculty for Medicine Clerkship" (2014-2016), "Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine" award (2014), and many others.
