Associate Professor/Clinical

Dr. Scott DePaul is a published, board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio in 2013 as an Assistant Professor/Clinical before rising to the rank of Associate Professor/Clinical in 2018. He maintains an active clinical service as a Hospitalist with the South Texas Veterans' Affairs Healthcare System on both teaching and non-teaching inpatient General Medicine and Medicine Consult Services. Dr. DePaul also served as the Internal Medicine Residency Site Director at the VA from 2015 until 2018 and continues to work with the program as a Quality Improvement Cohort leader and as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee.

Dr. DePaul earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2006 before going on to complete his Internal Medicine residency with the Air Force at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in 2009. Dr. DePaul is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and his societal memberships include Alpha Omega Alpha, Society of General Internal Medicine, Society of Hospital Medicine, and the American College of Physicians. He is the recipient of several honors including the NATO Medal (06/2013), the Joint Service Commendation Medal (2013), Uniformed Services University Award of Excellence in Teaching (2012), Teaching Department of the Year (2011), Air Force Achievement Medal (2010), and the Wilford Hall Internal Medicine Ambulatory Care Award (2009). He is also the recipient of the Division of Hospital Medicine's "Division Excellence Award" (2022) for exemplifying collaboration, teamwork, and collegiality.
