Juyeong Hong, PhD

Assistant Professor/Research

Dr. Hong's research focuses on the transcriptional and epigenetic mechanisms underlying the development and progression of acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Specifically, she focus on Paraspeckle Component 1 (PSPC1), which is aberrantly overexpressed in AML and correlates with poor clinical outcomes. PSPC1 promotes leukemogenesis by orchestrating a distinct transcriptional program characteristic of leukemic cells.

Her work aims to elucidate the context-specific epigenetic regulatory mechanisms that control gene expression in AML and to determine how their dysregulation contributes to malignant transformation, with the ultimate goal of advancing more effective therapeutic strategies.
