Shreya Rao, MD, MPH
Assistant Professor
Dr. Rao is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Cardiology at UT Health Sciences Center. She specializes in preventive cardiology. Dr. Rao earned her medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in 2015 and completed both her residency and fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from Emory University. Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease, she joined the faculty at UT Health Sciences Center in 2022.
Dr. Rao has a special research interest in health care disparities and strategies to prevent heart disease in communities with reduced access to health care. Her current research focus is in exploring the biology of social adversity and identifying health systems interventions aimed at reducing racial, geographic, and socioeconomic disparities in cardiovascular disease. She has published several high-impact cardiology-based articles and is an active member of the American College of Cardiology (ACC) and American Heart Association (AHA).
