Dr. Jose A. Venegas is a published, board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio as an Assistant Professor/Clinical in July 2023. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology (graduating Summa Cum Laude) from Texas State University College of Science and Engineering in San Marcos, TX in 2016. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, TX in 2020 before going on to complete his Internal Medicine residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX in June 2023. Dr. Venegas is the recipient of the Baylor College of Medicine "Resident Teacher Award" (2022), the Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster School of Medicine "Osler Award" (2020) and the "Charles Spurgeon Award" (2016) for having the highest GPA at the TSU College of Science and Engineering. Dr. Venegas has served the population by donating his time at the Rotacare Free Clinic, the Medical Student-Run Clinic, the El Paso Baptist Free Clinic, and the Senior Buddy Program in El Paso, TX.
