Jeremy A Tanner, MD

Dr. Jeremy Tanner is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Biggs Institute for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases at UT Health San Antonio and faculty in the South Texas Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. Dr. Tanner completed his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience with honors at the University of Southern California. He then completed his medical training with honors at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed a Master of Public Health degree and the Sommers Scholars leadership program at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He completed neurology residency training at University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and served as Chief Resident, and fellowship training in Behavioral Neurology at the UCSF Memory and Aging Center. He and his family then moved to San Antonio to join the Biggs team. 

At the Biggs clinic, Dr. Tanner cares for patients and families affected by a broad spectrum of neurodegenerative diseases and other disorders affecting cognition. He also leads multidisciplinary clinics to provide comprehensive care for patients and families affected by Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy and by Early-Onset Dementia (typically those with symptoms onset before age 65 or with a known genetic causes). He strives to provide the highest possible quality of care, as he and his family searched for when caring for a family member affected by Alzheimer’s disease.   

Dr. Tanner’s research broadly focuses on the clinical translation and use of biomarkers to improve early detection, accurate diagnosis, and care for families affected by neurodegenerative diseases.  He is also engaged in global neurology and the use of biomarkers to improve care in resource-limited settings.
