Pediatric clinical research that involves new treatment options for children with Type 2 diabetes and appetite suppression in obesity.
Grants
2012-2014 National Institutes of Health National Institutes of Health RO3 DK096067. Effort 10%, (L.M. Rodriguez PI), Title: Glucose lowering effect of metformin and sitagliptin in adolescents with Type 1 diabetes. This grant provides $50,000 per year to fund my research project. The goal of this project is to study the glucose lowering effect oral hypoglycemic agents in type 1 diabetes children when used in combination with insulin.
2008-2013 National Institutes of Health Clinical Mentored Award 1 K23 DK075931 Effort- 75%, (L.M. Rodriguez PI), Title: The Role of Amylin and GLP-1 mimetics in Pediatric Type 2 Diabetes. This Grant provides salary support plus $25,000 to fund my research project. The major goal of this project is to study the effect of pramlintide and exenatide in regulating postprandial glucose homeostasis.
