Phillip D Shepard, CRNA

Mr. Shepard began his medical career as an ADN in 2005 where he worked in a Level 1 Trauma ICU at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. In 2006 he moved to the Cardiothoracic ICU upon its grand opening. KU Medical Center is one of the premier cardiac care facilities in all of the Midwest, and was the first hospital in the state of Kansas to receive Magnet designation. While working in the ICU he completed his BSN through the University of Missouri Kansas City. He then continued his education at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he earned a Masters of Science in Nurse Anesthesia.
He spent the first eight years of his Anesthesia career working for Advent Health in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Here he provided anesthesia for a very wide array of surgical specialties including pediatrics, bariatrics, orthopedics, urology, vascular, and more. He also served on both the heart team and OB teams. At a facility with over 5,200 deliveries per year he garnered extensive experience in OB anesthesia. He also utilized his ability to function independently in the state of KS by providing anesthesia coverage to several critical access hospitals as his schedule allowed.
