Mahammad Naushad Hussain MD., BSC. is a clinical Associate Professor of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Acute Pain Service (APS) in the Department of Anesthesiology at UT Health, San Antonio, TX
He received his medical degree from the Guntur Medical College in India after completing his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry.
He obtained a lot of knowledge in numerous disciplines of medicine after moving to the United States. For one year, he worked as a House Officer in the Department of Orthopedics at Coney Island Hospital in New York, and for another year,
He worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at LSU in New Orleans for one year.
He completed his preliminary surgery (PGY 1) at St. Vincent's Catholic Medical Center. At the Upstate Medical Center (SUNY upstate) in Syracuse, NY, he finished his anesthesiology residency. He then completed his fellowship in Regional Anesthesia at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Dr. Hussain is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA) and is actively involved in the Maintenance of Certification in Anesthesiology (MOCA). His academic achievements include being named Outstanding Clinical Instructor and receiving the Dean's Teaching Excellence Award in the Department of Anesthesiology at UT Health, Houston, TX
At UT Health, Dr. Hussain worked on several committees, including the Clinical Competency Committee, the Residency Research Committee, and the Residency Review Committee.
In addition, he was a member of a peer review committee (Physician Excellence Committee) representing the anesthesiology department. While working as the chief of quality review for the anesthesiology group (Envision Physician Service) at JPS Health Network in Fort Worth, TX, where he presented cases at Mortality and Morbidity conferences every month.
He also has 15 years of expertise handling acute pain in level one trauma centers and continues to practice acute pain, obstetric, regional, and general anesthesia.
