Xue Zhang, MD

Dr. Xue Zhang completed her undergraduate training at the University of Texas at Austin in 2017. She earned her medical degree at the University of Texas Dell Medical School in 2021. During medical school, driven by her interest in population health and decreasing health disparities, she obtained an M.S. in Health Care Transformation through the McCombs School of Business. She then completed her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2025, where she served as Administrative Chief Resident in her final year and won a medical student teaching award. Her research in residency focused on improving antenatal detection of placenta accreta spectrum using remote ultrasound techniques, the relationship between maternal diabetes and preeclampsia, and reducing postoperative wound complications through quality improvement initiatives. She has published several abstracts and articles, including in the Green Journal, the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the American Journal of Perinatology Reports.

 Dr. Zhang joined the faculty at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio as an OB/GYN specialist and is currently completing a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine. Her clinical and research interests include maternal nutrition and metabolic health, infectious diseases affecting pregnancy, and placenta accreta spectrum disorders. She is passionate about patient education and reducing maternal health disparities. In her free time, Dr. Zhang enjoys exploring the many trails around San Antonio (on bike and on foot!), traveling, cooking, and spending time with her husband and cat Sasha.
