Pradeep Yarra, MD

Associate Professor/Clinical

Pradeep Yarra, MD, MSc, MPH, is an accomplished gastroenterologist, clinical researcher, and medical educator with a distinguished career spanning academic medicine, quality improvement, and complex gastrointestinal care. He completed his internal medicine residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine–Jersey City Program, followed by more than a decade of faculty service at Wake Forest School of Medicine and the University of Kentucky, where he rose to the rank of Associate Professor. His training includes a Master of Public Health from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Medical Sciences in Clinical and Translational Science from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Yarra recently completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship at Saint Louis University, where he was deeply involved in clinical research, graduate medical education committees, and national scholarly activity. His robust publication record includes more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts, multiple first-author systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and numerous national presentations at DDW, ACG, and other major scientific meetings.
 
As of August 1, 2025, Dr. Yarra serves as an Associate Professor of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio and Medical Director of the Gateway Clinic, where he leads clinical operations, drives program development, and supports high-quality, patient-centered GI care for diverse populations. His academic interests focus on hepatology, endoscopic innovation, clinical outcomes research, and optimizing systems of care. Throughout his career, he has served in multiple educational and administrative leadership roles, including course director, faculty mentor, vice chair of hospital medicine operations, and contributor to national quality improvement initiatives. Dr. Yarra is widely recognized for his commitment to advancing evidence-based practice, fostering trainee development, and improving health outcomes through collaborative interdisciplinary work.
