Mobile Medical Team for Outreach and Treatment of Substance Use
A $3.6 million grant for the implementation of a mobile medical team in conjunction with a local harm reduction organization, Corazon San Antonio, to outreach to individuals experiencing housing insecurity. The mobile medical team will provide primary care and introduce substance use care in the field. Additional harm reduction services and linkages to other specialty care will also occur. Healthcare coalitions and overdose data collection are of particular interest.

Maternal Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder
Overall project goals are to improve the ability of health care providers to identify and address mental health and substance use concerns of women during and after pregnancy, through the use of provider education, consultation liaison, and extension into underserved and hard-to-reach communities.

Texas Targeted Opioid Response – Overdose Prevention Education and Naloxone
Develop, implement, and evaluate a statewide program aimed at decreasing opioid overdose death by providing overdose prevention education and access to U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved overdose reversal medication and supplies.

Substance Use Disorder Artificially Intelligent chatbot for screening, assessment & referral: SUD Bot
The project will develop SUD Bot, an artificially intelligent (AI)-enabled chatbot to facilitate always on and automated self-screening, assessment, referrals, and access to treatment for SUD. SUD Bot will leverage state-of-the-art machine learning and natural language processing to design an always on-automated system available to answer user questions via text message or the web in English or Spanish about SUD screening, assessment, and referral to services. SUD Bot will allow users a private, stigma free and supportive environment to self-schedule SUD treatment and will link them to peer counselors and medical providers for follow-up care.
