Michelle Tavera, MD

Assistant Professor/Clinical

Dr. Michelle Tavera is a board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio as an Assistant Professor/Clinical in August 2024 after completing her Hospital Medicine Fellowship at UTHSCSA in July 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology (with a minor in Biology and Chemistry) from Florida State University in 2013 before going on to earn her Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Sint Maarten in 2020. Dr. Tavera completed her Family Medicine residency at the Ascension St. John Hospital in Detroit, MI in 2023 (serving as Chief Resident from 2022 to 2023). She is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians and is board-certified through the American Board of Family Medicine.

Dr. Tavera has served the community with various organizations to include the Kenya Medical Mission Trip, Gleaners Community Food Bank of SE Michigan, Nu Wave Beach Clean Up- Miami Waterkeeper, Happy Period- CHS Miami, After School Project, and the AUC Pediatrics Interest Group.
