Betsy Laree Tanner, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is an experienced Family Nurse Practitioner with over a decade of clinical expertise across pulmonology, critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, perioperative services, wound care, and clinical research. She joined the Division of Gastroenterology and Nutrition at UT Health San Antonio on September 15, 2025, bringing a strong background in interdisciplinary care, complex patient management, and procedural support. Prior to transitioning into Gastroenterology, Ms. Tanner served as an APP within Pulmonary & Critical Care at UT Health San Antonio, where she played a key role in the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program—coordinating multidisciplinary care, managing chronic disease treatment plans, supporting medication access for underserved patients, and serving as a clinical liaison among physicians, staff, and subspecialists. Her clinical experience also includes research sub-investigator responsibilities, advanced wound care, and comprehensive perioperative management in cardiothoracic and pulmonary surgery settings.
 
Ms. Tanner earned her Master of Science in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner specialization from the University of Texas at Arlington and holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from UT Health San Antonio. Her broad clinical skillset includes advanced procedural capabilities, care of medically complex patients across inpatient and outpatient environments, and deep familiarity with multiple EMR systems, including Epic. Throughout her career, she has been recognized for clinical excellence, leadership, and patient-centered care. In her role with Gastroenterology, Ms. Tanner contributes to multidisciplinary patient management, clinic operations, and the expansion of high-quality GI services to the South Texas community.
