Michael A Tall, MD
Michael Tall, M.D. is a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine where he also attended his undergraduate studies. Dr. Tall joined the United States Air Force in 1992 and trained as an intern in Internal Medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center where he was voted Intern of the Year. After serving overseas in Panama as a General Medical Officer, he completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas where he served as Chief Resident. Afterwards, he completed a fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in Charlottesville, Virginia in 2004.
After completing Fellowship, Dr. Tall served a long and distinguished career in the United States Air Force serving in multiple locations both at home and abroad. He has a wide variety of experience in leadership and graduate medical education having served as a residency program director and as a Department Chair. He also established the first ACGME accredited Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship in the Air Force and in San Antonio. He was honored with a prestigious Legion of Merit Award for his accomplishments upon his retirement from the Air Force in 2018. He is the author of multiple book chapters, articles and educational exhibits in the subspecialty of musculoskeletal radiology.
Dr. Tall has been practicing at the University of Texas Health, San Antonio since 2018, where he is appointed as an Associate Professor of Radiology. He specializes in Musculoskeletal Radiology and serves as a faculty in the Diagnostic Radiology residency and the newly ACGME accredited Musculoskeletal Imaging Fellowship. He has interests in tumors and infections of the musculoskeletal system including the musculoskeletal infectious complications of diabetes. With over 16 years of musculoskeletal radiology teaching and leadership experience, he enjoys his time teaching and mentoring students, residents and fellowships on their skills and future careers and focusing on providing patient centered medical care.
