Daniel Stypula, D.O.
Assistant Professor
Daniel R. Stypula, D.O. is an assistant professor of Anesthesiology in the department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia at UT Health San Antonio. He is also the Assistant Program Director in charge of Clinical Transition Year.
He received his doctorate of osteopathy from Kansas City University in Kansas City, Missouri. His internship and residency were completed at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. After residency, he served 4 years as a staff anesthesiologist in the United States Air Force at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, Alaska. He attained the rank of Major before his separation from the military. During his active duty time, he was deployed to Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan, where he served as medical director of anesthesia at Craig Joint Theater Hospital.
After his service commitment, Dr. Stypula completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Stypula is board certified in Anesthesiology and by the National Board of Echocardiography in advanced perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. He has worked in private practice, military practice, and academic medicine. He is excited to be a part of the Cardiothoracic Anesthesia department at UT Health San Antonio and hopes to be instrumental in future growth and development of the department.
