Assistant Dean for Prelicensure Programs

Dr. Marcia Sotelo, DNP, RN, CNE, is an accomplished nurse educator and academic leader with extensive experience in nursing and health sciences education, academic administration, faculty development, and student success. She serves as Assistant Dean for Prelicensure Programs at the UT San Antonio School of Nursing and holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Administration with an Academic Nurse Educator concentration.

Before joining UT San Antonio, Dr. Sotelo served as Dean of the School of Health and Human Services at Abilene Christian University. She has also held faculty and leadership roles  n both undergraduate and graduate nursing programs at Abilene Christian University, The Baptist School of Health Professions, and the American Public University System.

Dr. Sotelo has led curriculum innovation, accreditation, strategic planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives across nursing and allied health programs. She is recognized for developing evidence-based strategies that enhance student success and expand access to nursing education through innovative hybrid learning models. A dedicated mentor, she supports faculty excellence in teaching, curriculum design, scholarship, and leadership while fostering collaborative, student-centered academic environments. Her passion is preparing the next generation of nurses while advancing academic programs grounded in excellence, innovation, accountability, and service.
