Grants
Federal
Funding Agency National Institute of Health/ National Eye Institute(NIH/NEI) Title Dysfunction of Retina neurons and circuits early in diabetic retinopathy. Status Active Period 4/2014 - 4/2019 Role Principal Investigator Grant Detail We are testing the novel hypothesis that dopamine regulates both neuronal and vascular function of the retina and that dysregulation of dopamine action at neurons and capillary endothelial cells in diabetes contributes significantly to the visual impairments of diabetic retinopathy. The original grant was awarded to Dr. R. Renteria as the Principal Investigator. Dr. Sohn became the Prinicipal Investigator in January 2018 when Dr. Renteria left UT Health San Antonio and took a faculty position at a non-research University
Private
Funding Agency San Antonio Area Foundation Title Reduced ocular blood flow in diabetic macular edema Status Active Period 3/2018 - 6/2019 Role Co-Investigator Grant Detail In this pilot grant, we will test the hypothesis that the blood flow in the posterior pole of the eye will be decreased especially in diabetic macular edema patients, using MRI. Funding Agency Voelcker Foundation Title Vascular dysfunction and hypoxia in Macular Degeneration Status Active Period 7/2015 - 6/2018 Role Co-Investigator Grant Detail Voelcker Young investigator Award for PI, Dr. Eric Muir and Co-Investigator, Dr. Jeong-Hyeon Sohn to study ocular blood flow in macular degeneration patients using MRI. Funding Agency San Antonio Area Foundation Title Early detection and spatial co-incidence of localized retinal neuronal and vascular dysfunction in diabetic retinopathy Status Complete Period 5/2016 - 4/2017 Role Co-Investigator Grant Detail A San Antonio Area Foundation grant to measure the effects of diabetic retinopathy on multifocal ERG as the pilot project.
