Andrew Slusher, MD

Assistant Professor/Clinical

Andrew Slusher, MD  is an Assistant Professor of Neurology at UT Health San Antonio, specializing in Vascular Neurology, Hospital Neurology, and General Neurology. In his clinical roles, he serves as an attending physician on the inpatient stroke service, general neurology service, and neurology consult service. He is dual Board Certified in Neurology and Vascular Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has a passion for providing high quality education to medical students, residents, and fellows through clinical experience and didactics. He also currently serves as an Associate Program Director for the Neurology Residency Program.

Prior to his current academic appointment, Dr. Slusher worked as an attending neuro- hospitalist at several large comprehensive stroke centers in Nashville, TN. He also served as an attending tele-neurologist for many sites throughout Middle Tennessee.

He completed his Fellowship in Vascular Neurology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Neurology Residency at UT Health in San Antonio, TX where he served as the Chief Resident of Academics in his final year. He earned his M.D. from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, a B.S. in Medical Sciences from Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, and a B.S. in Neuroscience from Baylor University.
