Klarissa A Renteria, DDS

Assistant Professor/Clinical

Dr. Klarissa Renteria is a Clinical Assistant Professor within the Department of Predoctoral Education at the UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The University of Texas-Pan American in 2012. Dr. Renteria relocated to Houston shortly after graduation, to pursue a professional dental education at The UT Health School of Dentistry. She was awarded her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2015 and moved back to her hometown to serve the Rio Grande Valley community. She practiced as an associate general dentist, treating both adults and children. After ten years in a private practice setting, Dr. Renteria moved to San Antonio to pursue her passion for teaching predoctoral students in a clinical setting. 

Dr. Renteria holds a special interest in dental sleep medicine and restorative dentistry. She assisted in a research publication entitled “Anti-Microbial Properties of Selenium Brackets vs. Stainless Steel and Ceramic” while in dental school and presented at the UTSD Research Showcase as well as at the International Association of Dental Research in Charlotte, North Carolina. 

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Renteria volunteers regularly as a foster mom for homeless cats. She is a proud mother to two beautiful children and an advocate for animal welfare. She enjoys running, reading thriller novels, and spending time with her family.
