Dr. Quinn is currently Professor and Chair, Department of Orthopaedics at UT Health San Antonio, a position he has held since 2012. He was also Director of the Orthopaedic Residency Program until 2016. Prior to 2012 he was Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director at the University of New Mexico. His area of orthopaedic specialization is musculoskeletal oncology and he received specialized training in this area at Harvard University/Massachusetts General Hospital. He has published 85 peer-reviewed manuscripts, 17 textbook chapters, and a textbook on bone and soft tissue tumors. Dr. Quinn has held membership and leadership positions in multiple national organizations, professional societies, and multidisciplinary cancer research groups. He is past-president of the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society. From 2015-2020 he was Chair of the Council on Research and Quality for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, one of the highest leadership positions in that organization. He has received many honors and awards noting his dedication to the field of orthopaedic surgery and leadership.
In addition to Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Quinn is actively involved in the specialty of Wilderness Medicine. He is an accomplished mountaineer. Dr. Quinn is a past president of the Wilderness Medical Society and a Fellow of the Academy of Wilderness Medicine. He has previously served on the editorial board of the Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Journal.
