Clinton A Pietz, M.D.
Associate Professor of Pediatrics
Interim Division Chief
Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care – I specialize in the care of the post-operative pediatric patient with congenital heart disease and other children with heart disease. This area of pediatric intensive care requires specialization due to the unusual anatomy and physiology of these patients. Also, many of these patients require several operations to repair their heart disease and the continuity of care provided by a dedicated team of providers is very important. Physicians referring patients for repair of congenital heart disease often prefer to send their patients to a program with a dedicated cardiac intensive care unit team. Our cardiac team provides superior care to these patients when compared to programs without this specialization. The cardiac surgeons and cardiologists we work with also benefit from the specialized team.
