Subspecialties: Transplant Hepatology
Dr. Jan Petrasek is an assistant professor of medicine at UT Health San Antonio and a transplant hepatologist with the Texas Liver Institute.
Through Dr. Petrasek's research he has identified several promising therapeutic targets for alcoholic liver disease, which has led to a multicenter clinical trial investigating the efficacy of interleukin-1 blockade in treating patients with severe alcoholic hepatitis.
He has authored more than 45 peer-reviewed manuscripts, reviewed papers and book chapters. An Alpha Omega Alpha inductee and recipient of many scholarly awards, he is an active member of the American Society of Transplantation, the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease and the American Gastroenterology Association, among other professional organizations.
