Kimatha Grice, OTD, OTR, CHT
Kimatha Grice is an occupational therapist with experience in numerous areas of practice, but has specialized in hand and upper extremity dysfunction, becoming a certified hand therapist (CHT) in 1991.
She has a bachelor of science degree in Community Health from Texas A&M University (1978), a master's degree in Occupational Therapy from Texas Womans University (1980), and a post-professional doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of St. Augustine (2013).
She teaches courses primarily related to delivery of services to adults, as well as applied biomechanics. Her special areas of interest include splinting, assessments and education issues such as critical-thinking skills.
She participates in the faculty practice of the School of Health Professions, providing services primarily in orthopaedic outpatient settings. She was honored with a Presidential Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001 by UT Health San Antonio. In 2008, she was inducted into the university's Academy of Master Teachers, and in 2010, named as a Distinguished Teaching Professor by the UT System. In 2017, she was honored with the Presidential Distinguished Service to the Institution Award.
