Neelam Mukherjee, PhD

Assistant Professor

Division of Research

Neelam Mukherjee, Ph.D., is a cancer immunologist and an assistant professor within the Department of Urology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
She completed her doctoral degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2015. Her research involves the characterization of immune populations and the recruitment and activation mechanisms of these immune cells that contribute to effective anti-tumor responses.
She wants to use this knowledge to improve the landscape of immunotherapy responsiveness in bladder cancer patients. Her lab also focuses on the role of innate immune cells in bladder cancer biology and the development of novel immune therapeutic strategies in bladder cancer, combining features of animal models with clinical research.

    Young Investigator Awards by both BCAN and the Voelker Foundation; received pilot project funding from the May’s Cancer Center, and the Institute for Integration of Medicine and Science.
