Vanessa Meling is a recognized higher education leader with over 25 years of experience in enrollment management, grant leadership, teaching, and student success administration across public and private universities. A transformative leader, she prioritizes connection and communication, continuous learning, and accountability. In addition to her institutional leadership, she serves as national consultant supporting nursing schools with holistic admissions and student success initiatives.

She has led the design, launch, and development of multiple student success centers, secured extramural funding to sustain them, and successfully institutionalized these initiatives. She currently directs a $3 million federal grant expanding high-impact practices for nursing students, including undergraduate research scholar opportunities, peer leader programs, financial literacy initiatives, wellness programs, and professional identity formation. She also developed APOYO, a framework supporting professional students navigating Academic Health Centers within designated Minority-serving Institutions.

Her contributions have been recognized with the Texas A&M University System Student Recognition Award for Teaching Excellence, the UT Health San Antonio Rudy Gomez Staff Excellence Award, and a National Learning Center Leadership certificate. Her research focuses on improving persistence and graduation outcomes for minoritized students through targeted academic support initiatives.
