Cindy McGeary, Ph.D., ABPP, is an Associate Professor and Licensed Clinical Psychologist within the Division of Behavioral Medicine and the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. McGeary earned a master’s degree at the University of Kansas and her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Counseling Psychology at Texas A&M University. She is board certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). Dr. McGeary is the Director of the APA-Accredited Clinical Psychology Internship at UTHSCSA. Dr. McGeary is also a member of the STRONG STAR Consortium to Alleviate PTSD Administrative Core, providing vision to the largest consortium for military trauma research in the country. Dr. McGeary is the Vice-Chair for UTHSCSA IRB 2. Additionally, she functions as an American Board of Professional Psychology Examiner in Behavioral and Cognitive Therapy and as a mentor to new applicants. Dr. McGeary travels to conduct APA Commission on Accreditation site reviews for predoctoral psychology internships to enable sites to maintain APA accreditation. Dr. McGeary works as Co-Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator on multiple federally-funded research programs, including programs funded by the Department of Defense and the National Institutes of Health. Dr. McGeary’s research focus is in the area of chronic pain. Specifically, she is interested in the effects of adding significant others into behavioral treatments for chronic pain. She is also interested in transdisciplinary practice of chronic pain.
