Savannah Mate', DNP, MSN, RN

Assistant Professor/Clinical

Dr. Mate’ is an Assistant Professor/Clinical at the UT Health Science Center School of Nursing, where she has served since Spring 2020. She currently teaches Care of the Childbearing Family Clinical (N3208) in both the Traditional and Accelerated Family Nursing Clinical programs. Additionally, she periodically instructs clinical courses including Health Assessment (3273), Foundations of Clinical Nursing Practice (3330), and Care of the Adult I (4314).

A proud United States Air Force veteran, Dr. Mate’ brings extensive clinical expertise in antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, and newborn nursery care. In 2011, she deployed to Afghanistan—serving at Camp Bastion and Camp Leatherneck—as a contingency aeromedical nurse.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Mate’ played a vital role in health and safety efforts by conducting screening initiatives to mitigate virus transmission within the UT Health Science Center and the surrounding community.

She is an active member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) and presented at the organization’s national conference in New Orleans in 2023, where she spoke on the critical importance of standardized screening for postpartum depression.
