Sarah Marucci, MD

Associate Program Director, Gastroenterology Fellowship
Dr. Sarah Marucci is an Assistant Clinical Professor and the Associate Program Director for the GI fellowship program at UT Health San Antonio. Dr. Marucci was born and raised in Texas and then completed her undergraduate studies at Davidson College in North Carolina. She returned to Texas for medical school at UT Southwestern in Dallas, followed by Internal Medicine residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham. After completing her residency, Dr. Marucci worked as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Hospital Medicine at UAB, during which time she both obtained her Masters of Public Health from UAB as well as served in clinics throughout Honduras as a Global Health and Health Disparities scholar. With her MPH research, Dr. Marucci focused on the health disparities surrounding colorectal cancer screening in the Hispanic population, one of the main interests that encouraged her to pursue a gastroenterology fellowship. At Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Dr. Marucci completed her GI fellowship and developed interests in general gastroenterology and celiac disease and deepened her love of teaching and colorectal cancer prevention.
At UT Health San Antonio, Dr. Marucci is passionate about providing thorough and empathetic patient care in the clinic, hospital, endoscopy lab, and in the surrounding San Antonio community. Teaching fellows and ensuring that they receive a well-rounded education continues to be a joy for Dr. Marucci and she takes great pride in ushering in the next generation of GI doctors.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Marucci enjoys spending time with her husband and sons, coaching and playing sports, running, reading historical fiction, trying different Tex-Mex spots with friends, hiking and exploring swimming holes in the Texas Hill Country.
