Natalie J Maples, DrPH, MA

Dr. Natalie Maples is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, Division of Community Recovery, Research and Training at UT Health San Antonio. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology and her doctoral degree in public health. Dr. Maples is principal investigator on multiple projects that focus on dissemination of over 30 evidence-based and promising practices in the areas of mental health and substance use disorders. She has implemented cognitive adaptation training for people leaving an institutional setting and trained thousands of clinicians around the world in this practice. She also adapts psychosocial treatments for use with special populations (i.e. medically fragile, elderly, individuals frequently hospitalized for mental illness) and has supervised therapists for nearly two decades. Dr. Maples is recognized as an expert in structured interviewing and rating for clinical research, and has produced many training tapes in this area. Dr. Maples is author and co-author on numerous publications, abstracts and presentations.
