Dr. Macias is in engaged in detection and management of fetuses with
congenital heart disease, and continues to care for them during their hospital
stay and subsequent visits. He is leading a co-joint project with University
Hospital  to develop a fetal cardiology center of excellence. This

diagnosis for fetuses with critical heart lesions in the region, and improve
the neurodevelopmental outcomes in this population.

Dr. Macias’s current research interests include cardiomyopathy seen in
sickle cell disease, ethics in fetal cardiology, and improving congenital heart
