Dr. Michael Lozano is a board-certified Hospitalist who joined UT Health San Antonio as the Associate Chief Medical Officer of Inpatient Services and Hospital Medicine Section Chief of UT's Multispecialty and Research Hospital in September 2023. He completed his pre-med program at St. Mary's University in 1989 with a Bachelor's of Science in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics before going on to earn his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio in 1994. Dr. Lozano then completed his Internal Medicine residency at UTHSCSA in 1997, where he served as Chief Resident from 1997 to 1998.
Dr. Lozano is a member of several professional organizations including the Society of Hospital Medicine, American College of Physicians, Texas Medical Association, and the American Medical Association and is the recipient of multiple accolades including being listed amongst SA Scene Magazine's Best Doctors (2021-2022) and Internal Medicine's "Top Doctors" (2009, 2021, 2025). He was also awarded the UTHSCSA Department of Medicine's "Outstanding Clinical Teacher" award for 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.
