Dr. Michael Liss completed his residency at UC Irvine and then the SUO approved Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the University of California San Diego. He obtained his Master of Applied Science, Clinical Research at The University of California, San Diego and is currently attending The University of Texas, Austin for his Ph.D Candidate Translational Science. Dr. Liss is dedicated to academic Urology and is an Associate Professor of Urology – Tenure Track – in the Department of Urology at UT Health San Antonio. He currently has active medical licenses in both Texas and California. He is a member of the Mays Cancer Center - M.D. Anderson and is actively involved in research and care of urologic cancer patients. His research focuses on prostate cancer biomarkers, microbiome interactions in cancer, and enhanced MRI imaging. He is the site principal investigator for the Mays Cancer Centers SWOG team as part of the National Clinical Trials Network. Dr. Liss has a very active urologic oncology practice within our group. He started the urologic robotic surgical program at our South Texas Veterans Hospital as well as the MRI-targeted prostate biopsy program. He strives for excellence in surgical technique and research acumen to bring new tests, imaging, and treatments to prostate cancer patients.
