Kimi Y Kong, PhD
Associate Professor/Research
I attended the Oregon State University for my undergraduate degree and the University of Southern California for my Ph.D. degree. My research focus on the balance between normal and abnormal cellular proliferation of healthy and tumorigenic cells at steady state and under stress. Unchecked cellular proliferation in cells will usually result in malignancies. My research explores the functional aspects of both DNA repair and E3 ligase of BRCA1 and harnesses the information to design treatments that can target BRCA1-mutant cancers and chemo-resistant breast cancers effectively.
