Dr. Hitchman joined the UT Health San Antonio Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as an Assistant Professor in 2016 and has served as Section Chief, Director and Clinical Consultant of the HLA Laboratory at University Hospital since that time. She completed her PhD in Immunobiology at Iowa State University in 2010 and post-doctoral fellowship in Hematology, Oncology and Immunology at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute in Tampa, FL in 2013. She completed fellowship training in Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL in 2016. Dr. Hitchman is a Board certified diplomat of the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics since 2015. She is certified in the areas of HSC/BM Transplantation (Related and Unrelated Donors), Solid Organ Transplantation (Living and Deceased Donors), Histocompatibility Testing for Other Clinical Purposes (Disease Association and Drug Hypersensitivity) and Transfusion Support.
