Robin Hilsabeck, PhD, ABPP
Professor
Dr. Hilsabeck is a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist with extensive experience in diagnosis and treatment of neurocognitive disorders. She specializes in neurodegenerative diseases common in older adults, such as Alzheimer disease, Lewy body disease, and cerebrovascular disease, as well as mild cognitive impairment, traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and chronic medical conditions that may affect cognition. She is passionate about promoting interprofessional collaborations for early detection of cognitive impairment in older adults, particularly in primary care, and developing clinical workflows to reduce time to diagnosis and care.
Dr. Hilsabeck’s research is centered around early detection of cognitive impairment in older adults and use of technology to improve diagnosis and care. Her research expertise includes digital health technologies, psychometrics, psychoneuroimmunology, and clinical trials methodology. Her current research focuses on validation of an automated tool developed by her lab to detect cognitive impairment in older adults using a combination of speeded information processing, voice analysis, and machine learning techniques. This tool is being tested in two primary care clinics, and validation of a Spanish language version will soon be underway. Dr. Hilsabeck also collaborates with colleagues on research harnessing artificial intelligence to help caregivers of people with dementia.
