Harshita B Gupta, PhD, MS

Harshita B Gupta, PhD, MS is a basic immunologist by training. She received her bachelor’s degree (Microbiology, with Honors) and Master’s Degree (Biomedical Sciences) from the University of Delhi, India. Her PhD is in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) from National Institute of Immunology, Delhi, India, in which she reported and characterized anti-hemoglobin antibodies in SLE.
Her current lines of investigation include efforts in improving immunotherapy outcomes in resistant and non-responsive models of melanoma, ovarian and breast cancers amongst others. This includes designing novel, rational drug combinations to target the tumors. Additionally, her investigations involve deciphering underlying mechanisms that result in therapy resistance, including contribution by tumor initiating cells.
In addition to research, Dr. Gupta is actively involved in training graduate and medical students and aiding in their research thesis projects. Dr. Gupta is also the faculty-in-charge of the inter-departmental weekly Tumor Immunology Journal club which is a credit awarding course to PhD and MD/PhD students.
