Rene Gonzalez, PhD, APRN, FNP-BC

Assistant Professor/Clinical

As an Assistant Professor at UT Health San Antonio School of Nursing and a practicing Family Nurse Practitioner, I am deeply committed to advancing both clinical excellence and academic growth. My career has been shaped by a strong foundation in patient care, leadership, and education. Prior to my current roles, I served as a Nurse Manager in a fast-paced Urgent Care and Acute Care facility, where I developed critical leadership and supervisory skills while managing multidisciplinary teams and ensuring high standards of care.

I pride myself on being a reliable and ethical healthcare provider, capable of working collaboratively within team-oriented environments and independently when needed. My approach to care is rooted in compassion, cultural sensitivity, and a dedication to building meaningful relationships with patients, families, and fellow healthcare professionals. I believe that trust and communication are the cornerstones of effective care.

In the academic setting, I am driven to inspire and support student success. I strive to create inclusive, engaging learning experiences that empower future nurses to lead with confidence and integrity. As a fluent Spanish speaker, I am also able to connect with and advocate for diverse patient populations, ensuring that language is never a barrier to quality care.
