Rajat Garg, MD, is an Assistant Professor/Clinical in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at UT Health San Antonio, where he also serves as the Program Director for the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship (2025–present). He completed his Gastroenterology and Hepatology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, followed by advanced endoscopy training, and previously held the role of Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. His academic interests span advanced endoscopic interventions, pancreaticobiliary disorders, minimally invasive therapeutic endoscopy, and health disparities in gastroenterology.
Dr. Garg has an exceptional scholarly record, authoring numerous peer-reviewed publications across high-impact journals, including work in pancreatic diseases, biliary disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal motility, metabolic liver disease, and endoscopic innovation. He has contributed to several systematic reviews, national database studies, and clinical outcome analyses that have shaped current understanding and management trends in GI and advanced endoscopy. In addition to his research accomplishments, he serves as an Associate Editor for the Avicenna Journal of Medicine and remains an active member of multiple national professional societies, including ASGE, ACG, and AGA. He is committed to education, innovation, and advancing training in therapeutic endoscopy.
