Marlene Garcia

Assistant Professor of Medicine/ Clinical

Interventional Cardiologist

Dr. Garcia graduated medical school from UT Southwestern Medical Center in 2011 and went on to complete her internal medicine residency there as well.  She moved to San Antonio in 2014 for her cardiology fellowship.  After her fellowship, she embarked in a two-year research program under a T32 grant, during which time she analyzed lower extremity amputation trends in Texas.  During this time, she was also the recipient of the Kleberg Scholar Award, which provided her funding for her current research project regarding subclinical atherosclerosis in Mexican Americans in South Texas.  She is currently in the last few stages of her Interventional Cardiology fellowship with plans to remain on faculty and continue her research endeavors.
