Lauren Garcia, CGC

Lauren Garcia grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Mary’s University in 2018. She earned a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling and a Master of Public Health in Public Health Genetics from the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health, PA, in 2022. Lauren is passionate about achieving equity in all areas of genetic counseling, including increasing access to care for underserved populations in South Texas. She is also active in educational outreach to support the diversity of future genetic counselors. Prenatal genetic counseling is especially interesting to Lauren as it incorporates many aspects of public health, such as carrier screening and reproductive healthcare. Lauren joined the faculty at UT Health San Antonio in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology as a Specialist in 2022.
