Madeline Flores, MD
Assistant Professor
Dr. Madeline Flores is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at UT Health San Antonio. Her primary clinical interest is cancer rehabilitation with an emphasis on breast, gynecologic and young adult/adolescent cancers.
Dr. Flores was born and raised in San Antonio, completed her undergraduate degree at Rice University, then returned home for medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, where she met her husband.
Dr. Flores completed her internship in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and subsequently moved to Chicago for her Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency at Northwestern University/Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, where she also served as chief resident.
During her time in residency, Dr. Flores had high quality evidence-based training in all areas of rehabilitation medicine with a special emphasis on cancer rehabilitation. She worked alongside cancer rehabilitation specialists and oncologists at Northwestern University Lurie Cancer Center. She has given lectures regarding chemotherapy and paraneoplastic peripheral neuropathies, post-mastectomy pain and rehabilitation goals for patients with advanced disease. In addition, she conducted research focusing on pelvic floor dysfunction in the gynecologic oncology population as well as health disparities in inpatient cancer rehabilitation.
Dr. Flores is passionate about improving quality of life and functional independence in patients throughout their cancer journey, from diagnosis through survivorship. She practices individualized, holistic, patient-centered care and is thrilled to be back in her hometown to serve the San Antonio community. In her spare time, she enjoys exercise, cooking, travel, quality time with family/friends and neighborhood walks with her husband, Michael and dog, Winnie.
