Kirsten Y. Eom, PhD, MPH

Kirsten Y. Eom, PhD, MPH is a health services researcher dedicated to improving cancer care delivery and advancing health equity through policy evaluation and applied research. Her research has focused on understanding how individual, community, and system-level factors influence access to care, quality of treatment, and outcomes among people diagnosed with cancer, as well as their family members.

Dr. Eom has led and contributed to a range of studies examining disparities in cancer screening and care, including evaluations of hospital- and community-based breast and cervical cancer screening programs for Hispanic and low-income women. She has also investigated colorectal cancer screening patterns among Medicaid enrollees, the integration of care for patients with genitourinary cancers, and the effects of health insurance design and state and federal policy changes—such as the Affordable Care Act—on cancer diagnosis and treatment. Her work integrates quantitative and qualitative methods and draws on large-scale data sources such as cancer registries, administrative claims, electronic health records, and population surveys.

Dr. Eom received her PhD in Health Services Research and Policy from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public Health and her MPH from Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School. She completed postdoctoral training at Case Western Reserve University and the National Cancer Institute, where she most recently served as a Program Officer.
